Guides to Charities

Donating money, material or time is as valuable for the giver as it is for the receiver. It's up to each individual to decide which causes are most meaningful to him or her.

Several organizations have organized giving guides to help donors assess how well charities are run. Here are some examples:

American Institute of Philanthropy's Charity Watch

Charity Navigator

Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance

GuideStar - It provides information on more than 640,000 nonprofit organizations.
